I ended up exploring RPG Maker and gamedev at a very young age after seeing what one person could do, but fifteen~ anxiety filled years left me forgetting almost all of it. It was very special to me at one point and left a huge impression on me at the time. Thank you for any help with this!! I apologize for my vague memory of this game! But I'm eager to find it. Not the topic here but I'd love to remember this too. I may have seen it on a homebrew site for a Kingdom Hearts fan game at the same time (bonus points for this one: it sported an image of a Keyblade wielder who dual wielded two-sided Ultima Keyblades in a white coat. It doesn't mean it wasn't in those 33 pages, but I didn't see it - I didn't patrol RPG maker sites back then so I believe this had some light press/forum notoriety. I scrolled RPGMaker's site for 33 pages (Sorted oldest to newest) late last night and I could not find it. It was not a parody or a fan game, but an attempt at original characters. I don't remember if it was about time travel like Chrono Trigger, but I remember going through a portal (it was the Chrono Trigger portal sprite) and ending up in I BELIEVE a swamp -I remember the title really got my attention and made me curious, and I'm almost positive it did not have Chrono/Dragon/Final Fantasy/etc in the title. Ages ago when I knew what the game was, I found a review of it on an RPGMaker dedicated site that called it a Chrono Trigger rip off (it was not Channel Changer).
Shading on the sprites all around was great. Characters had limbs but weren't very long. Sprites were more like FFVI than Chrono Trigger or FF1. He also wore all black with a bit of red and white in the palette. Here's what I remember: -Turn-based, I believe the characters were on the sides like sprite Final Fantasy games -The main character had short black hair that was long-ish in the front. I wrote a description for r/tipofmytongue that I will be pasting here, so if there's any oddities in the post, blame it on the paste. Unfortunately, I also do not remember the name. That doesn't mean it wasn't there, but I didn't see it.
I checked the sites and the lists and I didn't see it. The graphics are also slightly improved in comparison to previous installments in the saga.Hey, I'm looking for a game from my formative years.

Pokémon Uranium is a real treasure for fans of the Pokémon saga, who will be pleased to discover a game that's both refined and full of surprises. Of course, you can also use a controller, but you won't have any trouble using the keyboard. One great detail in Pokémon Uranium is how refined the controls are: the game can be enjoyed perfectly with a mouse and keyboard. Even the cast of characters, including the professor and your rival, are totally new. The story is slightly darker than other games from the saga, and lets you discover so-far unexplored regions. The storyline in Pokémon Uranium is also completely new and different from any of the previous games. In fact, the first three pokémon are completely new. All of them can be captured, leveled up, and of course, evolved. And in Uranium, not only do you find loads of well-known names, you also run into some new ones. The most important thing in any Pokémon game is just that: the pokémon. Taking the Nintendo DS games as its base, the game offers everything you'd expect from a good Pokémon release for Windows. Pokémon Uranium is a new unofficial installment in the Pokémon saga developed by a small team of fans over a period of almost 10 years – and it shows.
